Your monthly dose of joy | The magic of women traveling together
Women's History Month has come to a close, but I would be remiss to not share my most recent trip with you! In January, I had the joy of traveling with a group of amazing women to the beautiful country of Colombia. Out of 11 people on the trip, I only knew three. But when I landed, I instantly knew I was with like-minded women. Isn't that the best feeling?
There is something magical that happens when women travel together. The minute we board the plane, we can let go of our roles and responsibilities at home and embrace what lies ahead!
During the first few days, we got to know each other quickly, sharing vulnerabilities, stories, and life experiences in a circle of trust. Which turned into a space for advice and support too! As we experienced the rich culture of Colombia – its mouth-watering food, the cobblestone streets of Cartagena, the colorful fashion, and beautiful sandy beaches of the surrounding islands – I found myself laughing until my stomach hurt, and shedding a few tears as well.
There was no judgment – no one cared if it took someone a little longer to walk up a steep hill, or if someone's hair was frizzing from the humidity. We were just there to hold each other's hand as we explored Colombia together. We pushed each other to try new things, cheered when one of us was able to conquer a fear, and reveled in this new life experience together.
When women travel together, we bond in ways not experienced in other settings. This bond is so special, and a large part of the reason I founded The JoYOUs Journey. The magic of women traveling together is enriching, deeply emotional, transformative, and empowering. I hope that every woman reading this is able to experience this magic at least once in her life!
Joyously Yours,

This month's partner spotlight is Crepes & Waffles, a staple restaurant chain in Colombia! They have locations across the country and are known for hiring women who are single or heads of their households to help uplift their communities. The food and views from their rooftop locations are impeccable! It’s definitely worth a visit on your next trip to Colombia.
